The opportunity of a lifetime...
Racecentre
has launched its biggest competition for 2013, where the winner gets the chance
to switch their arm-chair driving moves in front of the TV to an actual fully
equipped race car and crew… ready to compete in the final race of the Aussie
Racing Cars Championship Series in Sydney on 29 November 2013.
Entitled “Race to
Reality”, the year-long competition gives gamers, sim racers and motorsport
lovers the opportunity to change the virtual world into reality. By racing at
home on-line, or in-store at Racecentre, the competition is sure to bring out healthy
rivalry amongst the entrants.
Racecentre has teamed
up with Aussie Racing Cars to make this event a first in Australian motorsport
history. The winner will secure $12,000 entry to the final of the
Aussie Racing Cars Championship: including flights, accommodation, driver
training, track practice day, full spec vehicle and crew for the actual race.
The concept was
conceived by Racecentre Directors Enda & Kerry Murphy. Enda Murphy, who
founded the simulation based company, says that he wanted to see someone who
never had the opportunity to step into a race car be given a chance at the real
thing. “We wanted to create a chance for someone who might not have the money,
but have the talent. We wanted to host a challenge which gives everyone the
chance to show us what they can do in the virtual world, and see if they can
replicate those results in real life. Race to Reality was created to give the
regular fans a shot at the real thing”.
“Of course, safety is
our number 1 priority. The winner will need to undergo the appropriate training, they will need to get their own CAMS license, and we will help them with practise sessions and the track day. They will need to be cleared by the Aussie Racing Cars Instructors before they line up for the race."
V8 Supercar Champion
Mark Winterbottom, who attended Racecentre’s launch party last year said “Simulators
nowadays are so realistic that it really is the closest fans can get to the
real thing.” Now that realism is set to be put to the test.
