Qualify:

The boys got out to a late qualify session and every driver gave themself some space to warm up the tyres on their outlap. Unfortunately Murray Conallin's car wouldn't start so the techs worked hard on the electrics. lets hope he get's it going before race start. While in practice the top 6 where within 1 sec of each other they couldn't match Jason Brooks pace in the Qually. He's taken pole with a 1:34.985, Scott "The ICEMAN" McDonald starting from P2 and Duran Nikora will be launching off the line from P3. Murray Conallin's crew did an excellent job to get his car out on the grid for the start of Round 2 in Sepang.

Race:
The red lights go out and we are off. ICEMAN with the inside line brakes deep to get the holshot from Jason Brooks. Scott Daniels and Duran Nikora in their own battle for  3rd & 4th. Back in the pack and Evan Golbach, Andy Lardner, Phil Hughes and Matt De Groot are all scapping for p5. Golbach makes the move on Nikora to move up into P4 and chases Daniels down hard. Out front and ICEMAN McDonald is holding off Brooks who is putting the pressure on. Will the ICEMAN melt under the heat ???the class of driving here is inspiring to watch. The gap has remained at .2 sec's over the first 11 laps. Brooks is stronger under brakes. both drivers on the HARD compounds. Daniels is first to pit on lap 6. Nikora and Hughes rub tyres mid corner on Lap 9. Lap 11 and Brooks outbrakes ICEMEAN into T1 to take the lead but ICEMAN gets a better run out of the next 2 turns to regain the lead until he pits a lap later. Brooks stays out for some clean air.

Half race distance and Brroks now has a 17 second lead over ICEMAN who has lost radio comms to pre warn the crew that he is coming in for tyres. This is costing him over 5 seconds per pitstop. It not like he can wave to them as he clocks over 300 km's down the straight. Maybe with the new V6 turbos sounds he can just shout out to them ?? Daniels in P3 3 sec's behind ICEMAN. Golbach and Nikora both on their 2nd pitstop are within 2 secs of each other. Matt De Groot and phil Hughes are battling it out for P6. After Daniels 3rd stop he finds himself on the back of Golbach for a few laps in the hunt for P2. Ten laps to go ICEMAN McDonald is 1.5 sec's behind Daniels. Brooks stretching his lead out to 22 sec's. Golbach in P4 and Nikora a further 9 sec's back. Rookie Murray "Happy Hands" Conallin doing well in P9 and so is Andy Lardner in P8. While i say that Lardner gets caught up in a battle with Golbach and Daniels who are racing for P2. All 3 of them lock brakes and Golbach comes out the better. ICEMAN has now joined this pack with a fresh set of SOFTS in P4. Now its 3 drivers all vying for P2. McDonald makes the move on Daniels as Golbach is forced to pit with 3 laps to go. Daniels also needs to pit with only 2 laps to go. While all of this is going on Nikora has moved up into P3 but on old tyres will he hold out. Golbach is charging down trying to make up the 5 second gap. golbach manages to make the move with only 2 corners to go as Nikora runs wide and doesn't have enough tred left to challange him for the position. As they cross the line Brooks the clear winner with Scott ICEMAN McDonald in 2nd and Golbach in 3rd just ahead of Nikora. Daniels drove a solid race but having to pit with 1 lap to go lost a couple of valuable positions to finish in 5th.
